The Decider
Igår svarade George W Bush kritiken kring Donald Rumsfeld, något åt det här hållet:"You know, I read the papers, I see the front pages, but you know, I'm the decider here, and I decide that the best thing is that Rumsfeld stays in his place."
Yeeaaah... Det är väl det som kallas för demokrati. Man väljer en despot.
Men när vi nu nämner Rumsfeld, så kan jag dela med mig lite av hans poesi. Många känner till hans 'Unknown', men här ett par till:

Ja, han har haft många fina "moments of truth". Här är en till:
"It is a truth that a terrorist can attack any time, any place, using any technique and it's physically impossible to defend at every time and every place against every conceivable technique. Here we're talking about plastic knives and using an American Airlines flight filled with our citizens, and the missile to damage this building and similar (inaudible) that damaged the World Trade Center. The only way to deal with this problem is by taking the battle to the terrorists, wherever they are, and dealing with them."
eller varför inte:

Freudian slips abound. Det är lite som superskurkar på film: de bara MÅSTE berätta vad de ska göra i nästa scen, för att det är så himlans finurligt. Oh well.

Det är rätt gulligt ändå. Synd bara att han har så mkt makt...
Jo, och det är på något vis det märkliga i det hela. Att psykopater beter sig som de gör är inte så konstigt. Att en krokodil jagar och äter byten är fullt naturligt, och lika naturligt är Rumsfeld&co beteende i detta fall. Fruktansvärt, men naturligt.
Det märkliga är egentligen att dessa individer tillåts få så mycket makt. Att vi andra "normala" inte har sans nog att stå emot deras manipulativa beteenden. Det finns naturligtvis orsaker till det också, men det är i alla fall något som man kan bestämma över. Men som vi väljer att inte göra, kollektivt. Fascinerande.
Vi får de ledare vi förtjänar kanske. Vi borde vilja förtjäna bättre.
